MYSTIFICATION TYPOGRAPHY BOOK

HOW TO MAKE A POE STORY WITHOUT A MURDER EXCITING (TO A TYPE NERD, AT LEAST)

Edgar Allan Poe wrote the short story Mystification in 1837, and though his famous horror is absent from the plot, Mystification has no shortage of intrigue in the form of dueling, secret letters, censorship, and gentlemanly academic quarrels. I played from or referenced these qualities when I gave the text a playful typographic makeover. Scan through quickly to spot the grid I created to house the text—the order among the chaos.
